Senate Returns to Busy Agenda in the Fall; House to Hold Two Ethics Trials

Friday, August 20, 2010

When the Senate returns next month, members are scheduled to take up work on financial incentives geared to small-businesses, appropriations bills for the fiscal year and energy/oil spill-related legislation. They are trying to pass this legislation before the October recess so members can return to their states to campaign for the midterm elections. On the House side, the Ethics Committee has two trials scheduled this fall. Rep. Charles Rangel (D-NY) faces 13 financial related ethics violations and Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) is charged with using her influence to help a bank that she and her husband are connected to.
