Gene Kranz Oral History Interview
Today
Gene Kranz had a prolific career as a NASA flight and mission operations director. As lead flight director of the Apollo 13 mission, he played a significant role in guiding three astronauts back to Earth after an explosion on that spacecraft. This oral history interview was conducted in 1999 for NASA’s Johnson Space Center.

Maynard Cooke Horiuchi’s father was a navy captain stationed at Pearl Harbor when the Japanese attacked on December 7, 1941. In this oral history for "Densho: The Japanese American Legacy Project," she recalls how she came to marry Lucius Horiuchi, a Japanese-American foreign service officer whose family had been forcibly relocated to an internment camp at the outset of World War II.
